Q: COVID-19 UPDATE - What precautions are the airlines taking to prevent infection on the aircraft?

Airlines and airport authorities are taking exceptional precautions to ensure the safety of those travelling. This includes social distancing measures, professionally cleaned and disinfecting the aircraft and utilizing special air filters to ensure your safety. Every passenger is required to have a negative COVID certificate before they are permitted to board the aircraft. Each airline will issue you with clear guidelines ahead of travelling.

Q: COVID-19 UPDATE - How will I be transferred to the hospital upon arrival?

We arrange private transportation for all our patients from the airport, hotel and hospital.

Q: COVID-19 UPDATE - Should I be worried about COVID-19 in the hospital I am Visiting?

There is no need to worry. Currently the hospitals we are working with have no cases of COVID-19. They are also located in areas with low infection rates. It is something we constantly monitor and receive daily reports from the hospitals. Our patient's safety is our top priority.

Q: COVID-19 UPDATE - Will I have any issues returning home after my treatment?

There are no issues with returning home after your treatment. We have patients travelling every week.

Q: COVID-19 UPDATE - Am I able to fly during this time?

All normal flights have now resumed. This means you will be able to travel to medical treatment centres, which is considered essential travel and there are no fines or limitations for this travel.

Q: What is the EU Cross Border Healthcare Directive?

The EU Cross-Border Healthcare Directive allows an EU citizen to travel to another EU country for treatment, and their home government will issue a refund for the cost of this treatment.

Q: Do I need a European Health Insurance Card?

If you do not already have one, you may need to apply for an EHIC card at European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) on the HSE website , which will cover you for any emergency care while you are traveling abroad.

Q: What about my aftercare?

While you are abroad, you will visit the hospital for dressing changes and follow up consultation before you travel home. After you return home to Ireland, you are under the care of the HSE. Click here to see a short HSE video that explains the process.

Q: How easy is the form filling?

The HSE refund application form is 7 pages. We fill in this form for you to ensure accuracy and avoid errors. You will fill in the few areas that require your signature. We gather all the supporting documentation required by the HSE and create a file for submission for your refund.
