When Cian realised he could no longer wait for the treatment he needed, he turned to Surgery Now to arrange his knee surgery in Spain. Travelling abroad for surgery can feel like a big decision, but from the very beginning, Cian felt supported.

“From my initial contact with Keith, everything was organised for me. He went above and beyond helping me sort my Credit Union loan, arrange dates, and get all the paperwork in order.”

From the very first steps, right through to travel arrangements and paperwork, everything was taken care of to make the process as smooth as possible before Cian even left for Spain.

Once there, he met orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Hugo Marquina, who took the time to clearly explain the procedure and make sure Cian knew exactly what to expect.

“Dr. Hugo walked me through how the surgery would go in great detail, which really helped put my mind at ease.”

During his stay, Cian and his girlfriend Lara were supported by the Surgery Now team every step of the way. From hospital visits to day-to-day questions, there was always someone on hand to help.

“Scott brought us to all our appointments and stayed in communication with the doctors and nurses to make sure our care was 10 out of 10. He was also great craic, which definitely helped calm some nerves.”

For Cian, that ongoing support made a real difference throughout his experience.

“Any issues we had, Leanne, Alex, or Hally would be on the phone straight away. Questions were answered and any concerns were sorted within minutes.”

Now back home in Ireland, Cian is recovering well.

Looking back on his experience, he has one clear piece of advice for anyone still facing long waiting lists:

“If you’re stuck on a waiting list and have any doubts at all, I’d 100% go for it. The hospital care was exceptional, and having the support of the Surgery Now team behind you makes all the difference.”
